In following another thread, I realized that the normal, resting position of the arm on my 160 Jumbo is not at 45º, but rather in the closed position. I acquired the press used and I'm at least the third owner--it came originally from a local college.
I have looked at the linkage and can't determine if there is anything missing, comparing it to photos and illustrations form an owner's manual for the Masterpiece model which looks almost identical

Does anyone have any insight into this? Should I just continue to use it as is or should I attempt to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have an old Seal dry mount press - Commercial 200. The manual doesn't give any specific instructions on adjusting pressure. It seems to be fine for boards about the thickness of standard matboard but I think it compresses 3/16 FC or even 1/8 FC too much. The manual suggests that the foam rubber bed takes care of that, still it appears to be.
